Polish - Week 2
The Finishing Touch
The final push. Last moments polishing the art and fixing bugs happened now. Let's see has changed...
Particles
A lot of particles were added in this push. From the state to the tower, to projectile trails and much more. The effects that these particles give are way bigger than you might expect. Because of the sudden movement and their flashy color, the player easily notices any differences happening on the field. It's easy to overdo it though, but if you get it to the right balance, it can make your game look 100% more finished. Here are some examples of particles that were added.
This particle is also used when hitting players. When it hits the player the color will be slightly more red. Making it easy for the attacker to notice whether or not damage is being applied.
Notice how a particle appears when picking up the pickup, followed by a trail showing you that the player is going fast.
Art
Main menu has been hooked up properly to the main game. Music and effect volume can easily be changed in this menu.
As well as the endscreen functionality being hooked up to the game. Small, but necessary!
Postlude
It has been a great 12 weeks working on the project. The whole team learned a lot and all of us find it thrilling that we actually made (we think) a proper game! We enjoyed it very much while playtesting and we hope you will too. We encourage you to download our latest build and try it out! We hope you'll have a great time with it as much as we had ourselves.
Greetz,
